Last May, the Board of Directors of AMBE (Association of Brands and Bicycles of Spain) was renewed with the incorporation of Javier López as the new president. AMBE was born in September 2010, and is currently made up of 45 companies, including BEWATT.
The new president affirmed that the main challenge faced by the sector is to strike a balance between current demand and that of the future
Javier López was unanimously elected president at the AMBE Extraordinary General Assembly meeting held on 29th April this year. Eduardo Roldán, director of Shimano for the Southern Europe region, was welcomed as a member.
The new president affirmed that the main challenge faced by the sector is to strike a balance between current demand and that of the future. In his statement, he thanked the work done in recent years by the previous president of the association, Íñigo Isasa, and the previous board member José Luis Pardo, who will remain onboard as a partner.
“We are at a key moment for the sector that we must take advantage of to make sure we take that leap forward. AMBE continuing to take its role a strong organisation that promotes the bicycle as a means of transport, leisure, tourism and sport, as well as the political action it can represent, ensures a massive support to the sector and each of the companies that are part of the association ”, commented Javier López.
The AMBE Board of Directors is currently made up of the aforementioned president, Javier López, and the members José Antonio Gómez Damborenea, from BH bikes, Ignacio Peralta Rojo, from CJM Sport-Alpcross, Jon Fernández, from Orbea, Eduardo Roldán, from Shimano , Íñigo Isasa, from Specialized as well as being former president, and Dani Clavero, from Spiuk.
The subsidiary Shimano Iberia SL. joined AMBE this February with the guidance of Eduardo Roldán in order to continue with the work of growing visibility, fighting for common goals and favouring the development of cycling in all of its facets.
