At Bewatt, we incorporate it into our models because we know it not only improves the driving experience, but also optimizes energy use.

When we think of an electric skateboard, we usually focus on speed, range, or design. But there's a technology that goes more unnoticed and makes a difference in performance and sustainability: regenerative braking.

At Bewatt, we incorporate it into our models because we know that it not only improves the riding experience but also optimizes energy use. We'll tell you how it works and why it's key in electric mobility.

What is regenerative braking?

Regenerative braking is a system that recovers some of the energy that would normally be lost when braking. Instead of all that energy being transformed solely into heat (as occurs with a conventional brake), it is converted back into electricity and stored in the battery.

In other words: every time you slow down, your electric skateboard recharges itself a little.

How does it work on an electric skateboard?

- Conventional braking → The motor stops propelling and enters “generator” mode.

- Energy conversion → Kinetic energy (movement) is transformed into electrical energy.

- Storage → This electricity is redirected to the battery, slightly increasing its charge.

This process is automatic: the rider hardly notices the difference, except for the sensation of smoother, more progressive braking.

Advantages of regenerative braking on your Bewatt skateboard

- Greater autonomy: although it does not replace conventional charging, it can increase battery life by up to 10% on urban routes with many stops.

- Energy efficiency: you get more out of each charge, reducing the need for frequent plugs.

- Less wear and tear: mechanical brakes work less, which prolongs their useful life.

- Smoother driving: the transition between accelerating and braking is more natural and comfortable.

- True sustainability: by recovering energy, you reduce overall electricity consumption and your carbon footprint.

The Bewatt experience

At Bewatt, we design our electric skateboards with technologies that not only seek performance, but also efficiency and respect for the environment. Regenerative braking is a clear example of how innovation can improve your experience as a rider and, at the same time, contribute to sustainable mobility in Spain.
