But have you ever wondered how the price of an e-bike like ours is divided? Today we'll give you a rough breakdown of the percentage value of each of the key elements that make up an electric bike and how they contribute to the final price.
Approximate percentage breakdown of the value of an e-bike:
1. Electrical system (motor, battery, controller, and sensors): 35-45%
This is the core of any electric bike. The motor (central or hub), the battery (capacity, cells, and range), the controller, and the assistance sensors represent the most expensive part of the assembly. In our models, we rely on high-performance and highly reliable components, which increases the investment in this essential part.
2. Frame: 15-20%
The frame not only gives the bike its shape and strength, it also directly influences the weight, geometry, and riding experience. At Bewatt, we work with aluminum and carbon frames manufactured and customized in Spain, which adds value to the package.
3. Suspension (fork and rear shock, if double): 10-15%
Especially on MTB or trail models, suspension makes a huge difference to performance and comfort. We opt for well-known brands and precise settings, designed to get the most out of all types of terrain.
4. Transmission (derailleur, cassette, crankset, chain, or belt): 7-10%
Although the motor assists with traction, the transmission remains a key component. Smoothness, durability, and precision are essential, especially when we're talking about high-end models.
5. Brakes: 5-8%
Safety is everything. Hydraulic disc brakes with great stopping power and reliability, even on technical descents or in wet conditions, are standard on all our bikes.
6. Wheels and tires: 5-7%
The wheels must be strong and light, and the tires adapted to the type of use (urban, trail, enduro, etc.). At Bewatt we use puncture-proof tires and high-quality wheels that guarantee performance and safety.
7. Integration system (display, connectivity, lights, etc.): 2-4%
The digital experience also matters. Screens, remote controls, Bluetooth or GPS connectivity, and lighting systems complete the functionality of a modern electric bike.
8. Handlebars, seatpost, saddle, pedals, and other peripherals: 2-4%
These are small elements, but key to ergonomics and comfort. In our models, we choose each component with attention to detail, thinking about the user experience.
And what about design and customization?
At Bewatt, we offer full customization of components and paint, which can add between 5% and 10% to the total cost. It's not just about aesthetics; it's about creating a unique bike, tailored to your personality and needs. An example: our Boba Fett-inspired model, which combines design, performance, and character.
Value that goes beyond components
In addition to the cost of materials, we must consider the value of engineering, design, local manufacturing, and artisanal assembly. Every bike that leaves our workshop in Spain reflects not only technology, but also passion and commitment to sustainable mobility.
