BEWATT COMES IN AT FIRST PLACE IN SPAIN MASTER 30, PARTICIPATING IN THE SPANISH ATB E-BIKE CHAMPIONSHIP

INNOVACION 29 Abril

On May 30, 2021, the first Spanish ATB e-bike championship was held in Villanueva del Pardillo, Madrid, making it the first competition of its kind seen in Spain, featuring participants in the female and male categories and promotions for non-federated cyclists.

It proved to be a unique event where electric bikes had to pass a thorough technical verification process and in which the organisation limited participation to feature only models that conformed to technical regulations laid out by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation. In addition, the e-bikes had to compete in boost or turbo mode on the understanding that running out of battery could mean losing the race

The route covered a total of 47.5 km (5 laps of the 9.5 km circuit) and kicked off at an altitude of 675 metres with an ascent of 2.5 km of track without large grades. On that section, the riders took the opportunity to gain more speed and overtake their competitors. After this section of the race, they were put up against a much harder test with  2.2 km of ascent on a  22% slope. The challenge presented by this climb really made the difference in this championship, putting the athletes skills in the handling of the electric mountain bikes and their agility to the test.

MOUNTAIN WOLF E-BIKE

On the Mountain Wolf team, we have the rider Gonzalo Zambrano who competed with our e-bike Mountain Wolf 21 and managed to win first place in the Spanish ATB Championship in the Master 30 category in a time of 1:21:51 hours. He was closely followed by Guillermo Ruiz and Daniel Saenz, second and third in the category. In the general classification our rider took sixth place, against the winners of the test Alberto Mingorance, Guillem Cassú and the Olympic medalist Carlos Coloma.

In the women's category, Rocío del Alba García won the victory, knowing how to  prevail over her competitors despite the extreme heat, reaching the finish line in a time of 1:05:43 hours. The second and third places were awarded to Sandra Santanyés and María Calleja respectively.
